You have more control over what is happening in your life than you may think.  In fact, it is all about what you are thinking.  Jennifer Hoffman is the author of 30 Days to Everyday Miracles: How to Create a Miraculous Life. The book is a handbook for a healthy mental outlook, so you can draw to you what you most want to show up in your life.

Today she shared her thoughts with me on my show Open Book with Diana Page Jordan.   Jennifer says the Universe doesn’t care whether we love something or not — if we obsess about it, it will show up.  If you’re not getting what you want, just change your thinking.  By the way, this has nothing to do with blaming yourself for perhaps a lost job or lost income.  Maybe there is a part of you that really wanted to break free from your situation.  Wish granted!

I’m being a bit glib here.

I’ve wondered — a lot — about those two phrases — Expect Nothing and Expect Miracles.  Which is correct?  I love what Jennifer has to say about this.  She says they fit together.  Expectations stand in our way.  If we expect nothing then we are open to everything.  If we expect nothing, then we can expect miracles, because miracles are those things that we never would have imagined that it could happen that way to us.

Careful if you’re not happy.  Jennifer says that if you’re unhappy, don’t you worry, the Universe will change it up for you — and it may be with illness or a job loss.  But, she says, the change that’s coming will happen in the best way with divine timing.  When you need a change, the change happens.  Be honest with yourself  — be completely happy, be grateful, be delighted!   Consider that you are powerful!  We all are.

I told Jennifer that for me the little stuff gets granted easily — the parking space, the helpful email message, the free ticket to a show — but not the big things, the career-related miracles.  Jennifer challenges me – what are you thinking about? She says there is no order of magnitude in the Universe — whether you want a drink of water or a new house, it’s all the same.  All miracles are equal in weight.  They are all coming, she says, at the right time.

What are you thinking right now?  Jennifer Hoffman says when you realize you are unhappy, you are ready to make a change.  Ask yourself “What would it take to make me happy?”  And then focus on that.  When you ask the question, the answers do come.
